Highlights of this cruise:
Ft Lauderdale
Known as the "Venice of America," Fort Lauderdale is to Miami, what poetry is to prose. Despite the two cities being only 30 miles apart, there is a world of difference between them. With its stunning beaches, thriving arts, and culture scene, and picturesque waterways, Fort Lauderdale offers a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. Visitors can soak up the sun on the pristine white sands of Fort Lauderdale Beach, explore the arty, independent boutiques and restaurants along Las Olas Boulevard, or take a scenic boat tour through the city`s intricate network of canals. The city also boasts a diverse range of attractions, including world-class museums, lush parks, and bustling nightlife.
San Juan
Rich in history, La Fortaleza is the oldest governor’s mansion in the western hemisphere; be sure to see the mahogany clock which stopped in time when the last Spanish governor of Puerto Rico struck it with his sword on his way out, heralding the last moment of Spanish rule in the New World.
Rosseau
Tiny Dominica is a gateway to grand adventures including the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a scenic primordial rain forest home to thermal springs, waterfalls, gorges and the awesome wonder of Boiling Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage site fueled by volcanic molten magma. Explore Roseau to visit botanical gardens and see the pastel-colored, timber homes that line its streets. Listen for the sounds of calypso and reggae emanating from all around.
Roatan
Here, where the skies are wide expanses of blue, waters are a transparent turquoise, and beaches are pure white edged by lush green palms, you can aim a point-and-shoot in almost any direction and get a beautiful picture. Photography aside, you can also dive, snorkel and swim with the dolphins. You might opt to explore the reef in a glass-bottom boat, go into town to shop for island crafts, or see the butterfly and floral gardens.
Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman boasts endless beaches that are encircled by coral reefs teeming with an abundance of marine life. On shore, affluent colonial neighborhoods dominate the West Bay area, while the East End affords natural attractions such as spectacular blowholes and fragrant botanical gardens. Its quaint capital, George Town, offers British charm and tempting duty-free bargains. After shopping and sightseeing, enjoy relaxing on that magnificent crescent of sand, Seven Mile Beach
Key West
In the past, Key West was the winter home of Ernest Hemingway, John James Audubon and President Truman. Today it is a retreat for writers and artists. Its atmosphere is reminiscent of the Caribbean, yet it is the southernmost town of the continental United States. Take a stroll along Duval Street, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico, or explore its interesting art galleries and boutiques. |
