Cruise Description |
23 Night Cruise sailing from Rome roundtrip aboard Crystal Symphony.
This beautiful round trip from Rome voyage takes in the most iconic ports of the Mediterranean. Sailing from the Eternal City, your first stop will be Monte Carlo and a chance to see the fantastic Grand Prix. Sail on to Corsica, then Sardinia, before looping back to Marseille. A deep dive into Spain is next, with Palamos, Porto Mahon, Ibiza, Alicante, and Tarragona – where you’ll enjoy an overnight. Another overnight in Palma allows you to wander the labyrinthine streets at your leisure before a sea day brings you to the pretty Italian town of La Spezia. Finish your cruise with more Italian escapades in Livorno and Porto Santo Stefano ending with an overnight in Rome.
Highlights of this cruise:
Rome
Discover the charming port town of Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome and the treasures of the Eternal City. Venture through Civitavecchia, noted for its fine seafood and beautiful monuments. Then, travel to Rome, with more than 2,500 years of history and ancient landmarks that will leave you with memories for a lifetime.
Monte Carlo
An ancient principality steeped in rich and colorful history, Monaco was bought from the Genoese in 1309 by the Grimaldis, who still rule as the world`s oldest monarchy - presided over today by Prince Albert.
Marseille
Marseille is France`s oldest city and one of the Mediterranean`s premier ports. Amid the big-city bustle, the old port is a quaint landscape of historic charm: colorful fishing boats sail past the imposing Fort Saint-Jean, narrow streets wander among ancient churches and cobbled squares, while the venerable Basilica overlooks the scene from the hilltop above.
Ibiza
Flower power was once as prevalent on this “White Isle” as are today’s glitzy nightclubs, for Ibiza was a hub of hippie culture in the 1960s. But dig deeper and you’ll find a heritage more suitable for an island gem in the Mediterranean. Ibiza Town’s UNESCO-listed Dalt Vita chronicles much of this history, with monuments and architectural vestiges of nearly 1,000 years.
Tarragona
Overlooking the azure Mediterranean Sea, Tarragona offers much to those who like to spend a day relaxing on beautiful beaches and enjoying breathtaking coastal vistas. But it is not all just fun in the sun; Tarragona has a legacy dating back to Roman times, and transports all who visit here back to antiquity. It’s strategic position on the coast has contributed to its historical significance and its role as a bustling port city, and the beautifully well-preserved Roman ruins, including the iconic Amphitheatre and Pont del Diable aqueduct are a must for any history lovers among you, while the medieval old town, which boasts cobbled streets, charming squares, and the stunning Cathedral of Tarragona will provide entertainment for those who like to stroll through the streets and soak up the ambience of a place. The city is found in the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain, along the Mediterranean coast, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) southwest of Barcelona, and embodies the famous Spanish fiesta (and siesta) attitude. Find an inviting Tapas place, order a glass of local wine and enjoy small bites that redeinfe the meaning of travelling with taste. The city`s lively atmosphere comes alive during cultural festivals, celebrating its heritage and vibrant present.
La Spezia
Situated between Genoa and Pisa on the Ligurian Sea, La Spezia is ideally positioned for day trips, most notably to the villages of the Cinque Terre. Clinging to the rugged coast that unfurls west of La Spezia, the villages and hillsides of this section of the Italian Riviera are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and reputed to be some of the most picturesque destinations of Italy, if not in the world. That is not to say that the town of La Spezia isn`t worth spending some time in. It has an impressive nautical history, with the Naval Arsenal being developed here in the 1860s. Today, many nautical-themed diversions can be enjoyed, including a visit to the naval museum, or Museo Tecnico Navale, which exhibits an interesting collection of ships` figureheads. On display at the seafront are boats, parks, and people who gladly take in the Italian sunshine and demonstrate how to live la dolce vita. |
